OLD BODENSEE DESTILLERIE
The Steinhauser family has been distilling noble distillates for six generations. Where in 1828 there was still a small distillery, today there is one of the most modern distillation plants in Europe. One of the company’s greatest goals has always been the improvement of products and distilling technology. This is still one of our motivations today.
For almost 200 years nothing has changed in the quality of the fruit used and the careful processing. Only selected fruit from the region is processed into noble brandies and liqueurs. The raw spirit obtained after the first distillation is then finely distilled again on the original Steinhauser copper stills, making these brandies aromatic and mild.

For a long time, Mr. Steinhauser had the vision of the “1st Single Malt Whisky from Lake Constance”. In 2007, he bought a distillery plant from the year 1890. A careful restoration was necessary before the distillery could be used for the first time. In 2008 the first whisky was distilled in the plant.
During the distilling process, special attention is paid to the purity and cleanliness of the distillate. The historic still has a great benefit in this regard.
The Brigantia® is stored in noble oak barrels in the “Whisky-Stadl”, a wooden farmhouse from the Allgäu region that is over 100 years old.
The unique combination of experience, personal commitment and state-of-the-art firing technology guarantee a consistently high quality of the products. This is confirmed annually by a wide variety of awards. In 2014, the gin was named the world’s best London Dry Gin by the IWSC.
