TULLIBARDINE
THE HISTORY
In the village of Blackford, on the site of a former twelfth century brewery, is the Tullibardine whisky distillery. A small mound of earth near the whisky distillery, according to legend, is a mysterious place where a Norse queen was buried.
The abundant pure waters were the reason Blackford had three breweries very early on. Tullibardine established itself as the first whisky distillery of the century. In 1947, the former brewery was bought with the plan to turn it into a whisky distillery. After difficult building conditions, Tullibardine was able to produce spirits for the first time in 1949.
After a few decades, the distillery closed in 1995 and remained dormant until 2003, when it was bought out along with the existing whisky warehouse. In that year, the distillery started its boiler all over again. During the process of restarting the distillery, great emphasis was placed on maintaining traditional methods and the competence of the managers and staff.
The history and passion of the team results in an excellent whisky that is allowed to mature in the best casks.
